Gearoenix VPN - Ultra Proxy · Last updated: 2026-10-24
Short, specific answers. Where a question touches cryptography, the security page has the full detail; where it touches your data, the Privacy Policy is the binding text.
Is Gearoenix VPN really free?
Yes. Install it and connect, with no account and no signup. New devices start with free connection time, and every short rewarded ad adds 20 minutes. Premium removes the ads if you prefer an uninterrupted connection.
Is a free VPN safe to use?
It depends entirely on how the VPN is paid for. Some free VPNs sell browsing data; ours is paid for by rewarded ads you choose to watch, and by Premium subscriptions. We keep no traffic logs, there is no account to profile, and the cryptography is documented on the security page. The honest limits are also there: no kill switch yet, and a single US exit.
Do you keep logs?
No traffic logs. We never record browsing history, visited domains, DNS queries or the contents of your traffic. What we keep is a random per-install identifier with its time balance, subscription status and referral code, brief session metadata for capacity and abuse prevention, and a push token if you allow notifications. The Privacy Policy lists everything.
How do I get a US IP address?
Connect. All of Gearoenix VPN's servers are in the United States, so while you are connected every website sees a US address. There is no server list to choose from, which is also why there is nothing to configure.
Does a VPN hide my traffic from my internet provider?
Yes, with a precise meaning. Your provider sees encrypted UDP traffic between your phone and our server; it cannot see which sites you visit, what you send, or your DNS lookups, because those travel inside the tunnel. It can still see that your phone is exchanging traffic with us, how much and when. The data packets are obfuscated so they carry no fixed protocol signature and do not look like a known VPN protocol.
Why does a free VPN show ads?
Running servers costs money, and we would rather sell your attention for 30 seconds than sell your data. Each rewarded ad adds 20 minutes of connection time. Premium, at £9.49 a month or £71.99 a year on the UK Play store, removes the ads; the encryption and the no-logs promise are the same on both.
Where are the servers?
In the United States. Your traffic leaves from a US address, which is what makes US services treat you as a US visitor.
How strong is the encryption?
Every packet is sealed with ChaCha20-Poly1305 after a Noise NK handshake, and the server's identity is pinned inside the app, so it cannot be impersonated. DPI-resistant obfuscation hides the tunnel's shape on top of that.
Does it work on mobile data as well as Wi-Fi?
Yes. The tunnel's packet size is chosen to fit the smallest packets that IPv6 mobile networks are guaranteed to carry, so it works on cellular connections that cannot fragment packets, which is where many VPNs stall.
What happens when my time runs out?
The app warns you while connected as the time runs low, with a one-tap option to watch an ad. If it reaches zero, the VPN switches off and your phone's normal connection resumes; the time's-up alert offers to top up and reconnect. There is no kill switch yet, so traffic is not blocked while you are disconnected.
Does it support IPv6?
The tunnel carries IPv4 only. While you are connected, Android blocks IPv6 traffic entirely rather than letting it bypass the tunnel, so nothing leaks; IPv6 destinations are simply unreachable until you disconnect.
Can my network block it?
Networks that block VPNs by recognising their protocol signature find nothing to match in the data packets, which are obfuscated. A network that blocks all UDP traffic, or all traffic to unknown servers, will still stop it, and the security page lists the current limits rather than hiding them.
Can I use it for torrents?
No. Peer-to-peer and BitTorrent traffic is not supported: the server blocks the classic BitTorrent ports and limits how many new connections each device can open, which also keeps the free service fast for everyone. The Terms of Service have the details.
Is there an iPhone app?
Not yet. Gearoenix VPN is Android-only, on Google Play. There is no iOS version and no release date; if that ever changes, it will be announced on this site.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, open Settings and choose Request data deletion, which opens a pre-filled email that already includes your device identifier; the Delete your data page has the manual steps. Deletion is keyed to that identifier, since there is no account, and is completed within 30 days.
